Instructional Designer

Position Overview

Pathway Systems is currently looking for an experienced, motivated, Instructional Designer to join our dynamic team as we grow our internal and customer-facing training programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively to determine overall training strategies using formal instructional methodology
  • Design curriculum paths and training content (for both customer-facing and internal training programs)
  • Act as instructional designer and writer of curriculum (to include standard deliverables: Performance Objectives, Design Documents, Storyboards, Assessments, Decision Paths, Participant Materials, Facilitator Materials, PowerPoint presentations, Job Aids, supplemental handouts)
  • Actively engage with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of content and relevance to targeted audience, while ensuring materials are technically and instructionally sound and consistent with the team's instructional design philosophies. This includes the following:
    • Assessing and interpreting customer and employee needs to determine appropriate design direction
    • Evaluating target audience needs and establishing related courseware objectives and instructional goals
    • Developing instructional materials appropriate to meet learning objectives
    • Working with the internal training manager, E-Learning manager, and director of Education and Training Services to determine deployment strategies
  • Proactively suggest alternative approaches, bring innovative ideas to bear, and keep up with the latest technology and techniques for designing and developing training modules.

Skills & Experience

  • A bachelors degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communication, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated success in designing curriculum paths and training modules, preferably for a software or technology-based company
  • Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and reliable
  • Ability to think logically and creatively
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing training support materials in variety of formats and media
  • Ability to break down complex concepts and processes into component parts
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced, high energy environment
  • Possess a strong work ethic, integrity, professionalism
  • Have knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design theories
